We are delighted to invite you to the opening of our new exhibition, which presents the mythological theme of Charon – the ferryman of the underworld – in contemporary interpretation.

Robert Liedtke's photographic works offer a unique perspective on the figure of Charon. His interpretation shows the mythical ferryman not only in his somber work but also in moments of dreaming – perhaps even surfing in the waters of oblivion.

For Liedtke, dreaming itself is a calling. His artistic vision is realized in the moment of photography and continues through the development process until the "dream of the photograph" finally takes shape in print.

Chris Hinze complements the exhibition with expressive sculptures and graphic works that explore the complex mythology of Charon through contemporary materials and forms. Hinze's powerful three-dimensional pieces capture the duality of Charon as both guardian and guide, using organic shapes and contrasting textures to evoke the boundary between realms.

His graphic works further investigate this liminal space, employing bold lines and shadowy depths that invite viewers to contemplate their own journey across metaphorical rivers. Hinze's artistic practice is characterized by a profound engagement with ancient symbolism, reimagined through a lens that speaks to our modern understanding of transition, loss, and spiritual passage.
